“Different kind of Tea Party”

Tea Party Conservatism.
We often hear those who would detract from the Tea Parties claim we are an “angry mob” or that we are Nazis. On a regular basis, tea party members are labeled as, “anti government”. Sadly, they don’t get the point. Here is a video that quite clearly explains the kind of government that tea parties believe in.

LG Chem in Holland, July 15, 2010
The LG Chem company of S. Korea is building a plant in Holland. There were reports that LG will invest about $30 million. However, there is conflicting information as to what may have been announced locally. According to a Korean publication, “Choson Iibo” LG will have next to no investment. Fed subsidies, (stimulus) together with MI tax abatement will make up most of $300 million investment with LG retaining ownership of the land and facilities. Pretty sweet deal for LG. For the Korean company it means next to no investment, guaranteed customers, (Government Motors and the other Government Motors) plus Ford, (for the time being still a private company). Hey can I get in on the ground floor of this investment opportunity?
Jobs
Now of course it does mean jobs for Hollanders and we’re happy for them. However when you look at the cost of each job, it works out to about $600,00o. for each. Wow and I thought government workers had high overhead. Adding another wrinkle is the lithium is sorta like an OPEC situation. China, Bolivia and Chile hold the world’s most lithium supplies. We have hardly any. Just what we need another way for us to be energy dependent on other foreign countries.
Technology?
Then there’s the Lithium Ion technology itself which is not competitive in the fully electric car market. But that’s one of those “unintended consequences” when ever the government gets involved. None-the-less Holland gets its share of the pork. Hooray! Now we can feed at the trough too. The heck with the tax payers that have to eat this cost as long as “we get ours”. Hmmm. Gotta think of something catchy like the “Louisiana Purchase”.
The “catch”?
The big problem is what is the catch? Does that mean everyone who gets a job at the plant must pledge to vote for Democrats? Despite all of this, no one in Holland seems to be aware of the downside. It’s a Cel-A-Bration, tonite come on. Get it on! Holland gets national recognition via the media buzz. The cops get lots of over time pay. No big deal. The city of Holland is flush with money, right? Oh, well they’ll find a way to get it from the tax payers. Maybe not finish that boardwalk. That might be a good thing, considering the lasting “little problems” with the one in Kolen Park.
Bush’s visit and a tommy turle
Let’s see when Bush came here in 96, he bought a tommy turtle at Captain Sundae. Hmmm What’s that a couple bucks? And he came by bus! Obama is of course coming on Air Force One. That really sounds cool when you think about the movie and the character portrayed by Harrison Ford. (Kinda hard to see Obama putting his life on the line)
Security
So the “man” is coming by the big jet, using perhaps $100,000 worth of jet gas? Then here are all the SS guys for security. Knowing he’s coming into a conservative area with Tea Party people, I’m sure they’ll want to pat down all the old ladies for hidden howitzers. Maybe there is a sign that would offend Obama too. Can’t take any chance that he’d wouldn’t feel loved outside of he usual, tingly legged media types.
The big tent?
Back to the tommy turtle. Nope, this will be a “gala celebration” under a million dollar tent. Invited luminaries include Grandholm and Stabinaw plus assorted Holland officials who regardless of their personal feelings will put on a happy face for the media. Champaign will flow and I’ll bet it cost more than a tommy turtle. Invited guest will arrive two hours early from the ground breaking and naturally, there will be some food. Maybe a couple of bags of Doritos ? I wonder if Pelosi is coming which would mean a couple of cases of 12 yr old scotch? Whatever the fare, you can bet it won’t be from the dollar menu at Mc Donalds and the cost of this little photo-op for Obama will have a lot of zeros.
Dissent is the highest form of patriotism
He’s coming and that’s for sure. Now there are those (in the minority) in Holland who feel we should give him the respect he deserves. Well, I can agree with that 100%. I don’t expect any inappropriate behavior but as was said by Hillary Clinton, “dissent is the highest form of patriotism”. So Tea Party members, I think we should show that patriotism, love of our country and yes, fear for our children and grand children who will have to pay for he excess.
Welcome to Holland, President Obama
Is it time for another revolution?
